How can growing up be both exciting and painful?

How can growing up be both exciting and painful? Growing up can be exciting because of the activities that can be done, so much stuff to do that you could not do as a little kid. Like going out to the movies, parties, clubs and much more. I enjoy growing up because you learn more you get a better understanding of how things work. Growing up can also be painful because of the fights arguments, stress and a bunch of other things but life all together growing up equals out for me.
